Background

Mr Jonathan Simmons was educated at Canford School, Wimbourne, Dorset, before training in medicine at St Bartholomew's Medical School, London. During his training he studied orthopaedic sciences at UCL and Stanmore, obtaining a first.

He graduated from medical school in 1997 (MB BS) and subsequently undertook his surgical training in London to become a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (MRCS). After this he completed training in plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery in London teaching hospitals.

Research & publications

Through his training and time as a consultant he has become increasingly involved in improving patient outcomes. He has achieved this by writing and introducing computer systems that collect reliable data for analysis of outcomes. He has recently published outcomes following open limb fractures and his experience with St Mary's Hospital becoming a major trauma centre.
